Pompeo Leaves Saudi Arabia, Arrives in Turkey

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo concluded his visit to Saudi Arabia and is now in Turkey to meet with Turkish officials including President Erdogan, according to reports.

Pompeo said the government pledged to hold anyone accountable in the disappearance of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

“[The Saudi government] made a commitment to hold anyone connected to any wrongdoing that may be found accountable for that, whether they are a senior officer or official,” Pompeo said.

Pompeo’s arrival in Ankara came amid a barrage of leaked information from Turkish sources to Western press outlets. President Erdogan has not publicly accused Saudi Arabia of abducting or killing Mr. Khashoggi, but he has demanded answers.

Meanwhile, an 11-member Saudi investigation team arrived at the Saudi consul’s Istanbul residence on Wednesday, according to Reuters.
