Future Investment Initiative (FII) Kicks Off 5th Annual Summit with Focus on Climate, Humanity, Energy

The first day of the Future Investment Initiative (FII) conference kicked off this morning in Riyadh with a focus on investing in humanity, sustainability, and impactful investing.

The FII comes just a day after the Saudi Green Initiative and Middle East Green Initiative Launch Events that concluded yesterday in the Saudi capital.

A host of top investment people from the U.S., Saudi Arabia, and around the world descended on Riyadh to attend the FII again this year, now in its 5th installation. The FII, sometimes casually referred to as “Davos in the Desert,” saw conversations and public comments today from Larry Fink, head of asset management company BlackRock, David Solomon, chairman of the Goldman Sachs Group, Ray Dalio, founder and co-chairman of Bridgewater Associates and many more.

“As leaders navigate the global economy through unprecedented transformations, opportunities are increasing but so are risks. How can the global investment community work together to launch a new era of investment in human progress?” the FII’s website asks.

Organizers said that there are more than 2,000 “missions” and 5,000 participants this year at the event.

Other topics that will be covered are tourism, sports, and entertainment investing, as well as investing in clean water, education, public health, gender equality and fighting poverty, mainly in the countries that could not receive Covid-19 vaccines.

Follow FIIKSA on Twitter to watch the event live.

The forum was opened with a performance by Gloria Gaynor, who sang her iconic song “I Will Survive” after a video presentation of the impact of climate change on the planet.
