  • Saudi Arabia Businesses Upbeat on Outlook Despite Inflation Pressures

    Inflation weighed on Saudi business conditions in March but non-oil firms were optimistic about the outlook thanks to rising demand, a survey published on Tuesday showed. The Riyad Bank Saudi PMI recorded 58.7 in March, easing from an eight-year record of 59.8 last month. But it was still above 50, the mark that separates growth from contraction. “Despite the global headwinds including the recent credit crunch and heightened uncertainty, Saudi non-oil firms exhibited a robust degree of confidence towards future activity,” said Naif Al-Ghaith, chief economist at Riyad Bank.

    Saudi Arabia's non-oil business activity continued to expand at a strong rate in March, a monthly survey showed, boosted by an increase in new orders, although the pace of growth softened from the previous month. The seasonally adjusted Riyad Bank Saudi Arabia Purchasing Managers' Index eased to 58.7 in March, firmly over the 50 mark which separates growth from contraction, but down from 59.8 in February, the highest reading in almost eight years. The New Orders sub-index eased to 66.4 in March after surging to 68.7 the previous month but signals continued strong demand, with demand from foreign firms particularly strong.

    The Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) has announced the working hours for the month of Ramadan, as well as the holidays for Eid Al-Fitr and Eid Al-Adha. The working hours for bank branches and offices during the month of Ramadan will be from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, while money transfer centers will operate from 9.30 AM to 5.30 PM.

People familiar with the matter told the news agency that the deal would give the business a valuation of $50bn, making ADNOC Gas one of the world’s largest listed gas firms. For 2023, ADNOC Gas is expected to pay $3.25bn in dividends. ADNOC Gas has a pipeline network of over 3,250km, as well as eight onshore and offshore assets. It has a production capacity of approximately ten billion standard cubic feet of gas per day.
