Saudi Arabia unveils first batch of water projects worth $3.5bn to meet rising demand
Saudi Arabia has unveiled water projects worth SR13.105 billion ($3.48 billion) as part of the Kingdom’s five-year plan to fend off a crisis arising out of increasing demand. The Saline Water Conversion Corp. has announced 21 schemes, representing the first package within a five-year capital portfolio for the environment, water and agriculture system.

Minister: Saudi Arabia allocates $28 billion for water projects
Al-Fadhli added that the projects will contribute to raising the efficiency, quality and sustainability of services, which will, in turn, contribute to achieving the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030". In 2021, Saudi Arabia implemented eight independent water treatment projects, established 14 independent strategic water reservoirs, and seven small industrial wastewater treatment projects.

Naqi Water Co.’s initial public offering has been priced at the top end of an indicated range, after generating strong demand from investors during the bidding period. The bottled mineral water producer’s IPO price was set at SR69 ($18) per share with an oversubscription level of 30.3 times the offered shares, according to a bourse filing.

Jeddah airport allows pilgrims to carry Zamzam water
King Abdulaziz International Airport (KAIA) of Jeddah announced that it is now allowed for the Hajj pilgrims, who are returning to their countries, to carry Zamzam water on board the international flights. KAIA noted that the pilgrim is allowed to purchase only one five-liter Zamzam water bottle through one of the points of sale at the airport premises. The airport authorities have clarified that it has allocated a separate path for Zamzam water, and it is not allowed to carry Zamzam within the checked-in baggage.

Iran’s southern Gulf waters hit by 5.6 magnitude earthquake
The quake occurred between the port of Charak and the island of Kish at a depth of 22 km (13.6 miles), it said. Officials told state TV that there had been some 100 quakes and aftershocks over the past 10 days in the same region.
