  • Saudi GAMI Signs 11 Agreements with Global Military Defense Industry Companies

    Minister of Investment Eng. Khalid Bin Abdulaziz Al-Falih and Governor of the General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI) Eng. Ahmad Abdulaziz Al-Ohali witnessed on Monday the signing ceremonies of 11 cooperation agreements and several joint memoranda of understanding with various international companies specialized in military and defense industries. The ceremonies took place on the sidelines of the World Defense Show, which is being held in Riyadh from February 4 to 8. The agreements focus on building the capacity of vital fields. They entail, among others, transfer and localization of technology, establishment of local production lines, and training and developing national talent in these fields. These agreements and MoUs contribute to the strategic objectives of the Kingdom's military industries, such as localizing defense manufacturing, improving military readiness, enhancing industrial participation, and creating investment opportunities that support the Vision 2030 goal of localizing 50% of military equipment and services spending by 2030.

  • CENTCOM chief in Saudi Arabia to meet top military general as violence engulfs region

    The top US military general for the Middle East met with Saudi Arabia’s Chief of General Staff, Gen. Fayyad Al-Ruwaili, on Wednesday to discuss deepening military and defense ties, the Saudi Ministry of Defense said. United States Central Command (CENTCOM) chief Gen. Erik Kurilla visited the Kingdom, where they discussed bilateral relations as well as the prospects for cooperation in various fields, a statement from the Saudi ministry said.

  • US military strikes two Houthi anti-ship missiles in Yemen

    The U.S. military carried out more strikes in Yemen early on Wednesday, destroying two Houthi anti-ship missiles that were aimed at the Red Sea and were preparing to launch, the U.S. military said in a statement.
    The U.S. strikes, which took place at roughly 2:30 a.m. (2330 GMT), are the latest against the Iran-backed group over its targeting of Red Sea shipping, and followed a larger round of strikes a day earlier.

    A joint military training between the Pakistan Army and Royal Saudi Land Forces kicked off on Sunday in Okara district in Pakistan's eastern Punjab Province, the Pakistani military said. At the inauguration of the training in Okara Garrison organized by the Multan Corps of the Pakistan Army, the contingents of both countries displayed remarkable military drill, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistani military, said in a statement.

  • US reaches deal to extend military presence at Qatar base – source

    The United States has reached a deal to extend its military presence at a base in Qatar for another 10 years, a source familiar with the matter told Reuters on Tuesday.

    The base in question is the Al Udeid Air Base, which is located in the desert southwest of Doha and hosts the largest U.S. military facility in the Middle East, the source said, asking to not be identified.

    The development was reported first by CNN. The U.S. Department of Defense did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Tuesday.

  • Saudi, France sign military cooperation pact

    Saudi Minister of Defence, Prince Khalid Bin Salman, held a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday at the Elysee Palace, the Saudi Gazette reports. During the visit, the defence departments signed an executive plan for “cooperation on capabilities, military industries, and R&D,” the Saudi minister said. Prince Khalid said he reviewed “strategic relations, defence cooperation and shared vision for regional security and stability” with Sebastien Lecornu, French minister responsible for the armed forces.

  • S.O.S. signs found on killed hostages hideout, Israeli military says

    Signs reading "S.O.S." and "help, three hostages" in Hebrew were found on the walls of a Gaza building where three Israeli hostages had been hiding before they were mistakenly killed, Israel's military said on Sunday.

    The military distributed photographs of the white cloth signs written in red, likely with leftover food. They were hung on a building about 200 meters from where the hostages were shot, military spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said.

  • U.S. military strikes more Syrian facilities

    U.S. military aircraft attacked two facilities in eastern Syria on Sunday, in retaliation for a string of attacks on American personnel in Iraq and Syria in recent months. It’s the second set of airstrikes in less than a week.

    The strikes were “proportionate, precision” attacks designed to destroy the facilities and limit the capabilities of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and related groups, a defense spokesperson told reporters traveling with the defense secretary in the Indo-Pacific region Monday.

  • Israel’s military tells UN in Gaza: ask Hamas for fuel

    Israel's military suggested on Tuesday that the United Nations ask Hamas for fuel supplies after the U.N. agency providing aid to Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip warned it would have to halt operations on Wednesday night if no fuel was delivered.

    The agency, known as UNRWA, posted its warning on social media on Tuesday. The Israel Defense Forces reposted it and said that Hamas militants have more than 500,000 litres of fuel in tanks inside besieged Gaza.
