Saudi cement demand to remain flat in 2023
Cement demand in Saudi Arabia is forecast to remain flat in 2023 before expanding by five per cent YoY in 2024, according to a report by SICO Bank. Cement demand fell by 1.8 per cent YoY in November 2022, despite the previous month being the strongest October since 2015. For the whole of 2022, SICO predicts demand to have declined by one per cent YoY.

Amak obtains exploration licence from Saudi government
The Saudi Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources has licensed Almasane Alkobra Mining Company (Amak) to explore gold, zinc, and copper in Aseer province. Under the licence that was issued on 2 January 2023, Amak will explore an area of 20.67 square kilometres in Dhahran Al Janub, according to a recent bourse filing.

Saudi Arabia’s PIF maintains sixth spot among world’s sovereign wealth funds
Data released by the Sovereign Wealth Fund Institute suggested that China Investment Corp. topped the list with $1.350 trillion in assets, followed by Norway Government Pension Fund Global and Abu Dhabi Investment Authority with assets worth $1.13 trillion and $790 billion respectively. Kuwait Investment Authority ranks fourth with $750 billion, while Singapore’s GIC Private Limited is placed fifth, with assets of $690 billion.
