  • Saudi inflation continues to ease in October to 1.6%

    Saudi Arabia's annual inflation rate eased to 1.6% in October, from 1.7% the previous month, government data showed on Wednesday, with housing rents once again the main driver. Prices of housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels rose 7.8% in October, pushed higher by an increase in overall housing rents of 9.3% of which rents for apartments rose almost 15%, the General Authority for Statistics reported.

  • Saudi Arabia club confirm poaching of Liverpool coach as Man City braced for double blow

    Liverpool coach Jonathan Robinson has departed the club after nine years - and moved to Steven Gerrard's Al-Ettifaq. Robinson arrived at the Reds from Swansea City in 2014. He was recently under-16s head coach and assistant to under-21s chief Barry Lewtas while he had a spell as analyst for Jurgen Klopp's first team. But Robinson has been poached by Al-Ettifaq, with Gerrard yet again raiding his former club after ex-captain Jordan Henderson joined the Saudi Arabia outfit in the summer transfer window. An Al-Ettifaq post on X said: "A new addition to the #Ettifaq family. We welcome Performance Analyst Jonathan Robinson."

  • Saudi Arabia Condemns Israel for Targeting HQ of Qatari Committee for Gaza Reconstruction

    In a statement, it said the attack was part of a “broader pattern of Israeli violations of international laws and norms.” It underlined Saudi Arabia’s solidarity with Qatar in the face of this blatant attack.

    It reiterated the Kingdom's call for the international community “to fulfill its responsibilities by promptly putting an end to Israel’s ongoing violations and holding it to account in line with international humanitarian law” in wake of the “atrocities it has committed against civilians, hospitals, and critical infrastructure in the besieged Gaza Strip.”

  • SAMI exec on Saudi Arabian localization push, Turkish deal prospects and future plans

    A top executive for Saudi Arabia’s state-owned defense conglomerate told Breaking Defense that the kingdom has managed to localize about 15 percent of its defense production so far, in what he says will be a springboard for hitting the nation’s goal of 50 percent localization by 2030. For instance, Walid Abukhaled, CEO of Saudi Arabia Military Industries (SAMI), pointed to a recent deal with Turkey’s Baykar Technology to first directly purchase the company’s Bayraktar Akinci drones, but then domestically produce them in the kingdom beginning in 2026.

    Saudi Arabia's international reserve assets dropped 3% month-on-month (MoM) to SAR 1.59 trillion in October, according to the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA).   On a yearly basis, the Kingdom’s foreign reserve assets fell by 8%, or SAR 143.1 billion.   Saudi Arabia’s reserve assets include investments in foreign securities, foreign cash and deposits, reserve position in the International Monetary Fund (IMF), special drawing rights (SDRs), and monetary gold.

  • Saudi Arabia Logistics Riyadh’s Special Integrated Logistic Zone

    The Saudi General Authority for Civil Aviation (GACA) launched operations at its Special Integrated Logistic Zone (SILZ) in Riyadh on October 31, 2022. The Special Integrated Logistics Zone is being designed to combine best in practice regulations, technologies, and infrastructure from around the world. Located directly next to King Khalid International Airport (KKIA), the zone covers more than 32 million square feet. SILZ’s first occupant, Apple Inc, utilizes the zone as a regional distribution center. SILZ offers companies three building options; a company can build its facility from scratch; SILZ can build a shell that the company finishes; or SILZ can build a full facility to a company’s specifications.
