Saudi more than doubles 2030 foreign tourism target: minister
"We have reached 100 million tourists this year, 77 million from home, 27 million from abroad, over 100 million," Tourism Minister Ahmed Al Khateeb said at a conference organised by Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund, describing the 2023 figures. Authorities now hope to hit 150 million tourists by 2030, up from an earlier goal of 100 million, with 70 million of those coming from abroad, up from an earlier goal of 30 million, he said. Saudi Tourism Fund Enlists Local Bank for $346.7 Million Project
Saudi Arabia’s Tourism Development Fund will help finance a 1.3 billion-riyal ($346.7 million) project in the holy city of Medina together with Riyad Bank, as the kingdom steps up fundraising for a key part of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s program to diversify the economy. The 15 billion-riyal TDF signed an agreement with Medina-based Knowledge Economic City Co. and Public Investment Fund-backed Riyad Bank to finance a hub it called “the biggest of its kind.” TDF and Riyad Bank will each provide 391 million riyals in funding, according to a statement Thursday.

Saudi’s Neom announces Zardun eco-tourism resort
Another resort, this time named Zardun, has been announced by Neom – northwest Saudi Arabia‘s $500 billion tourism destination. Zardun is described as a luxury eco-tourism resort. It overlooks the waters of the Gulf of Aqaba and is designed “to redefine luxury within an environmental context”, Neom said in a press release. Zardun will have three boutique hotels, offering a total of 100 rooms and suites. Each hotel will have a different theme. It will also contain a state-of-the-art experience centre with a 360-degree observation deck.
