Bahrain’s sovereign wealth fund is considering a listing of Aluminium Bahrain BSC in Saudi Arabia more than a decade after its initial listing in Bahrain, people familiar with the matter said. Mumtalakat, as the Bahrain fund is known, is working with Moelis & Co. as financial adviser on the potential listing, two of the people said, asking not to be identified because the information is private. Saudi Arabia has closed its registrations for domestic pilgrims who wish to perform Hajj. The more than 390,000 applicants will now wait on the results of a lottery to learn if they have been selected. Hajj authorities opened registrations for domestic pilgrims this month as the kingdom lifted restrictions on participation that were imposed in the past two years in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah said it will select the domestic pilgrims on Sunday using an online lottery. Priority will be given to candidates who have been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus and have not performed Hajj. Saudi Arabia said it will permit up to a million pilgrims from abroad this year and has expanded capacity after two years of limiting the Hajj to domestic pilgrims.

Saudi Arabia cancels hair covering rule in ID photos for some
The Saudi Ministry of Interior announced on Friday evening the cancellation of the rule to cover hair in ID photos, only for the 10-14-year-old age group and in some cases of illness. Local newspaper Okaz reported earlier on Friday that the new amendments to Article 17 of the executive regulations of the civil status system decided to delete the phrase stipulating the need to cover the hair and neck of women in the national identity card.

100% increase in National air carrier international airfares
The international airfares of the National air carrier recorded an increase of more than 100 percent while compared to the airfares of other airlines for flights that depart from Saudi Arabia to various global destinations. According to the monitoring of a random sample of ticket prices by Okaz/Saudi Gazette, the airfares of the Saudi national carrier flight bound for London from Jeddah amounted to about SR4,143 during the period between June 16 and 23, while the ticket fares of the national carrier of a neighboring country in the same route accounted for about SR2,058.

Saudi Arabia Offers Airlines Incentives To Launch Unprofitable Routes
The airline incentives are the latest in a series of measures to diversify the country’s economy and move away from a dependence on crude oil. Tourism currently accounts for 4 % of Saudi Arabia’s economy. The aim is to increase this to 10 % by 2030. This ties into a wider $147 billion project by the government to transform the country into a transport and logistics hub, and to increase the number of direct destinations available from the country to 250 (the current figure is around 100).
