  • Saudi Arabia announces new visa to visit friends, attend sports, entertainment events

    In its continued effort to embrace tourism and improve access to the country, the ministry of foreign affairs announced that visa holders will be allowed to travel across the Kingdom, as well as perform Umrah, visit Makkah and Madinah, in addition to visiting religious, and historical sites, and take part in sports and cultural events. Saudi citizens can submit a request for a personal visit on the official visa platform and apply for a visit request by logging in through the eVisa platform and filling out the data for the invitees.

  • Saudi hospitality giant Alhokair secures $25m contracts to operate entertainment sites

    Hospitality firm Abdulmohsen Alhokair Group for Tourism and Development has signed two contracts totaling SR94 million ($25 million) with a company that specializes in the establishment and operation of international brands. Alhokair aims to operate entertainment sites operated by PlayOCity by Hasbro for SR49 million and by “Cocomelon” for SR45 million, according to a bourse filing.

  • Korea’s SM Entertainment expands to Saudi Arabia

    K-pop juggernaut SM Entertainment is expanding into the Middle East after partnering with the Saudi Arabian investment department. The deal will see SM discover, nurture and produce local S-pop (Saudi pop) artists with the active support of the Saudi Ministry of Investment, with plans to establish a venue “that can hold music festivals year-round”. SM also plans to build a metaverse platform to “share Korean and Saudi culture” and “actively promote local business… production of various contents, and production and sales of products using IP”.

  • Saudi ‘Happiness Makers’ to bring joy to entertainment sector

    The “Happiness Makers” initiative is part of Vision 2030’s Quality of Life program, which was launched in 2018. The training was held in cooperation with several local universities and companies in the entertainment sector. The ceremony was attended by Faisal Bafarat, CEO of the GEA, and Khaled Al-Bakr, CEO of the Center for Quality of Life program.
