Under the revamped methodology, the FDI stock balance in Saudi Arabia has shown consistent growth from SAR413 billion in 2015 to SAR775 billion in 2022. FDI inflow, in particular, has seen a significant increase, reaching SAR122 billion in 2022 compared to SAR64 billion in 2015. This positions Saudi Arabia as the 16th largest recipient of FDI among the G20 economies.

    The Saudi Arabian Ministry of Culture has launched the Tariq Abdulhakim Center (TAHC) as a hub for musical innovation and cultural exchange, promoting the knowledge and cultural awareness of Saudi and regional music. Located in Al-Balad — Jeddah’s historical area and a UNESCO World Heritage Site — the TAHC features a museum dedicated to the late Saudi musician, educator, and collector Tariq Abdulhakim, who was also founder of the Saudi military band.

  • Saudi Arabia launches 4 projects to generate 7,200 MW using carbon-capture tech

    The Saudi Power Procurement Co. has invited bids for four independent power plant projects with a combined capacity of 7,200 megawatts. The company has specified that two of the projects, namely Rumah1 and Rumah2, are slated for the central region, while the remaining two, Nairyah1 and Nairyah2, will be situated in the eastern region of the Kingdom, the Saudi Press Agency reported. All these projects will have a capacity of 1,800 MW each and use natural gas combined-cycle technology, along with carbon capture.

    Saudi Arabia has completed a $250 million support package to Jordan, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Tuesday. The deal, agreed at the Makkah Summit in 2018, was to provide financial aid over a period of five years to help bolster Jordan’s economy. The final installment involved a sum of $38.6 million. Zeina Touqan, minister of planning and international cooperation, expressed her country’s gratitude to Saudi Ambassador to Jordan Nayef Al-Sudairi and the head of the General Department of International Development Cooperation in the Saudi Ministry of Finance, Abdulmohsen Al-Mutawa.

    Saudi Arabia’s economy is likely to grow by 4.4 percent in 2024, Aljazira Capital has predicted in its year-end report. The forecast is in line with the Kingdom’s Finance Ministry’s projection for the current year, whereas Moody’s predicted a 4.6 percent increase in 2024. In the report, the financial brokerage firm highlighted that Saudi Arabia’s economic acceleration is expected to be propelled by the execution of megaprojects, Vision 2030 initiatives, government spending, and increased participation of the private sector.
