Top Democrat warns Saudi arms freeze could benefit Russia and China
Rep. Adam Smith (D-WA.), the chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, said in an interview that an proposed year-long suspension of U.S. arms sales to Saudi Arabia could benefit both Russia and China. During an appearance on CNN’s “At This Hour,” Smith told host Kate Bolduan that even though the U.S. has a strained relationship with Saudi Arabia, citing several ongoing issues such as the death of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi and Arabic country’s current conflict with neighboring Yemen, freezing their arms deal would create uncertainty between the two countries.

Most Americans oppose arms sales to Saudi, new poll finds
The poll also found that most Americans – nearly 70 per cent were against the continuation of US arms sales to Saudi Arabia, of those almost 35 per cent were "strongly" opposed to it. Among the top reasons for those opposed to the arms sales was the kingdom's track record of human rights abuses followed by its use of US-provided weapons in the war against Yemen.

German government approves arms exports to Saudi Arabia: reports
Germany's coalition government has approved new arms export deals to Saudi Arabia, media reported on Thursday. The reports emerged after German Chancellor Olaf Scholz returned from a trip to Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Qatar. Berlin had imposed a ban on weapons exports to Riyadh over its involvement in the war in Yemen, as well as accusations of murdering the dissident US-Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
