Shale CEO Warns of OPEC+ Price War if U.S. Oil Production Surges
U.S. shale producers risk another oil-price war with OPEC and its allies if they resume the breakneck production growth of the last decade, according to Pioneer Natural Resources Co. Shale, and not the pandemic, was responsible for the initial oil-market crash of 2020, Chief Executive Officer Scott Sheffield said at BloombergNEF’s annual summit. The cartel, frustrated at U.S. producers’ success in taking market share from OPEC, allowed prices to tumble, he said.

U.S. Says Concerned Over Sentence for Saudi Aid Worker Abdulrahman Al-Sadhan
It’s unclear what charges Al-Sadhan faced, but his sister said she believes he was detained over an anonymous Twitter account he operated that was critical of the Saudi government. He’d been held incommunicado for nearly two years, she said. “We will continue to monitor this case closely throughout any appeals process,” U.S. State Department spokesman Ned Price said in a statement. “As we have said to Saudi officials at all levels, freedom of expression should never be a punishable offense.”

Progress for U.S. Beef Access in Saudi Arabia, but Obstacles Remain
In 2011, U.S. beef exports to Saudi Arabia topped 6,600 metric tons valued at nearly $32 million, while last year exports were just 1,127 metric tons valued at under $10 million. In 2019, even before COVID-19 restrictions impacted Saudi Arabia’s restaurant sector, exports had only recovered to 1,539 metric tons valued at $14.3 million.

U.S. Navy carrier strike group passes through Suez Canal
The weekend north-to-south passage from the Mediterranean Sea to the Red Sea involved the aircraft carrier and three escort ships in its carrier strike group, the Navy said in a press release.
