Saudi Internet Penetration Reaches 99%

According to the “Internet Saudi Arabia” report for 2023, published by the Communications, Space, and Technology Commission, both men and women demonstrated high levels of internet usage, with rates of 99.3 percent and 98.5 percent respectively. The report also says that 52.3% of users spend more than seven hours online each day.

As it happened: Saudi Arabia sends its first female astronaut into space
Saudi astronauts Rayyanah Barnawi and Ali Al Qarni have begun their journey to the International Space Station. The Dragon spacecraft they are riding in successfully separated from the Falcon 9 rocket at 1.50am GST and will spend 16 hours travelling to the ISS, with arrival expected at 6pm. Americans Peggy Whitson and John Shoffner are also onboard the Dragon. When the Ax-2 crew arrive at the ISS, they will join the UAE's Sultan Al Neyadi, who is there on a six-month mission. This means there will be three Arabs in space together at the same time - a record number.

The Axiom Mission 2 is set to blast off on May 22 at 1.37am GST (May 21, 5.37pm ET), from the Kennedy Space Centre in Florida. It will carry Saudi citizens Rayyanah Barnawi, the kingdom's first female astronaut, and Ali Al Quarni, along with American astronauts Peggy Whitson and John Shoffner.
