Saudi Electricity to raise $2 bln with dual-tranche sukuk with green tranche
Saudi Electricity Company (5110.SE), majority owned by the sovereign Public Investment Fund, is set to raise $2 billion from a sale of dual-tranche Islamic bonds, a bank document on the deal showed on Monday. The company's offer is made up of 10-year green sukuk and 30-year conventional Islamic paper, the document showed. Orders for the 10-year tranche topped $9.2 billion and the 30-year tranche drew more than $6.2 billion in demand, both excluding interest from joint lead managers, the document said.

Saudi non-oil business growth eases in March but output remains strong-PMI
Saudi Arabia's non-oil business activity continued to expand at a strong rate in March, a monthly survey showed, boosted by an increase in new orders, although the pace of growth softened from the previous month. The seasonally adjusted Riyad Bank Saudi Arabia Purchasing Managers' Index eased to 58.7 in March, firmly over the 50 mark which separates growth from contraction, but down from 59.8 in February, the highest reading in almost eight years. The New Orders sub-index eased to 66.4 in March after surging to 68.7 the previous month but signals continued strong demand, with demand from foreign firms particularly strong.

Iran says it warned off US Navy aircraft close to Gulf of Oman
The Iranian navy said it identified and warned off a U.S. reconnaissance plane near the Gulf of Oman on Sunday, the semi-official Tasnim news agency reported. "After the warning, the plane was prevented from entering the country's skies without authorization," said the report, identifying the plane as a U.S. Navy EP-3E. While the opening line of the Tasnim report said the aircraft had crossed into Iranian airspace, the same report also said the aircraft had not entered Iranian skies and had left after the warning.

Israel says it downs aircraft that appeared to come from Syria
The Israeli army said it downed an unidentified aircraft on Sunday that appeared to have crossed into its territory from Syria, as tensions simmer between the two countries. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement the aircraft it downed did not pose a threat at any stage.

Turkey has finally approved Finland’s application to join NATO, putting an end to months of delays while also continuing to block Sweden from joining the military alliance. The Turkish Parliament voted unanimously in favor of Finland’s membership on Thursday, clearing the last hurdle in the accession process. The vote fulfills Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s “promise” to allow Finland in the defense alliance. Turkey was the last NATO member to approve Finland’s accession, although Hungary only did so on Monday.

Saudi astronauts complete training for historic trip to space in May
Two Saudi astronauts have moved a step closer to their historic mission to the International Space Station after completing their training programme. Ali Al Qarni and Rayyanah Barnawi, who is set to become the first Arab woman in space, are set to travel to the orbiting laboratory on May 12 as part of the AX-2 mission. The 10-day trip has been organised by Axiom Space, a private space company based in Houston, Texas. The company helped the UAE secure its six-month mission on the station that is being carried out by Emirati astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi. The company will also send the first Turkish astronaut to space later this year.

Saudi Arabia joins Shanghai Co-operation Organisation
The SCO was formed in 2001 by Russia, China, and former Soviet states in Central Asia, and has since expanded to include India and Pakistan. The organisation's goal is to promote regional stability and counter western influence in the region. Iran signed documents for full membership in 2022, and Saudi Arabia has been granted the status of a dialogue partner, which is a first step towards full membership.
