The Saudi Food & Drug Authority has issued a temporary ban on beef imported to Saudi Arabia from the United States. On May 2, 2012, the Saudi FDA issued decision 33/90 preventing the import of all beef products from the U.S. due to a confirmed case of BSE, bovine spongiform encephalopathy.

Dubai Inflation: Consumer Prices Skyrocket Less Than Year After Steep Deflation
Consumer prices in Dubai are increasing faster than in Singapore and approaching levels seen across much of Europe, capping a sharp reversal after almost three straight years of deep deflation. Inflation in the Middle East’s business hub reached an annual 7.1% in July, the fastest since Bloomberg began compiling the data in 2016. The higher costs of transportation, recreation and entertainment, and food and beverages were the biggest contributors to the upswing, according to the city’s statistics authority.

Jordan’s Crown Prince engaged to Saudi Arabia’s Rajwa Al-Saif
Rajwa Al-Saif was born in Riyadh on April 28, 1994, to Saudi businessman Khalid bin Musaed Al-Saif and Azza bint Naif Al-Sudairi. She is the youngest sister of Faisal, Naif and Dana. Rajwa received her secondary school education in Saudi Arabia, and her higher education at the School of Architecture at Syracuse University in New York. Prince Hussein, 28, is a graduate of the British military academy Sandhurst. He is also holder of a degree in international history from Georgetown University in the US. He holds the rank of captain in the Jordanian armed forces and can fly a military helicopter. Prince Hussein was officially named crown prince in 2009 by a royal decree.

A renewed Iran nuclear deal may be closer than ever, but problems remain
Iranian negotiating team adviser Mohammad Marandi said on Monday that “we’re closer than we’ve been before” to securing a deal and that the “remaining issues are not very difficult to resolve.” And the European Union’s “final text” proposal for the deal, submitted last week, has been approved by the U.S., which says it’s ready to quickly seal the agreement if Iran accepts it.

Saudi Arabia has struggled to recruit a chief executive officer for the new national airline it’s looking to establish amid confusion over the carrier’s strategy, according to people with knowledge of the situation. Current and former chiefs at American, European and Middle Eastern airlines have been approached before deciding not to get involved, two people said, asking not to be named because the matter is private. A board has been selected and advisers retained to help move things forward, they said.
