An Exclusive Interview with Lina Almaeena on The 966 Podcast

The 966 interviews Saudi Arabia’s Lina Almaeena, who spent well over a decade leading the charge for women’s sports in Saudi Arabia after co-founding Jeddah United Sports Club in 2006. Almaeena then served on Saudi Arabia’s consultative body, the Shura Council, and continues to work to advance women’s empowerment in Saudi Arabia in line with Vision 2030’s reforms.

Almaeena discusses her experiences in starting and growing a business, government service as a member of Saudi Arabia’s Shoura Council, and her work going forward with The 966 in this exclusive interview.

After the launch of Vision 2030 by Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in 2016, Lina was appointed to the 150-member Shoura Council; one of 30 women to be named. Now, Lina continues her work on advancing youth participation in sports, the importance of family, and patriotism during times of unprecedented reform in Saudi Arabia.
