Rare Photo Shows View from Top of Albraj al Bait, the ‘Mecca Clock Tower’

An incredible photo has surfaced on the social networking site Twitter that appears to be taken from the above the very top of the Abraj AlBait tower in Mecca, also known as the Mecca Royal Hotel Clock Tower.

The tower is the second tallest in the world, behind only the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.

The photo appeared on the twitter handle @Earthpics. The account has over 968,000 followers.

The image gives the viewer a sense for how tall the structure is at its highest point.

The planned Kingdom Tower Jeddah is set to become the world’s tallest building in 2015.

Recently, footage appeared of the construction of the holy complex surrounding the tower on the social networking site Facebook. The video, shot from what looks like a crane, shows worshippers circling the Kaaba with construction efforts ongoing at the mataf expansion not far away.
