Five United Nations security staff who were kidnapped in Yemen by al Qaeda militants 18 months ago have been released, the United Nations said on Friday. U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres welcomed the release and "reiterates that kidnapping is an inhumane and unjustifiable crime, and calls for the perpetrators to be held accountable," a U.N. spokesperson said.

Saudi baklava drug bust: Customs seize over 2.2mn captagon pills in Jeddah shipment
The Saudi Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has reported thwarting an attempt to smuggle over 2.2 million captagon pills hidden in a consignment of baklava that entered the country through Jeddah Islamic Port. ZATCA has coordinated with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control (GDNC) to arrest the two individuals who were supposed to receive the shipment, SPA reported, quoted officials in the customs authority. Captagon pills are a highly addictive amphetamine-type drug, which is reportedly produced mainly in Syria and widely smuggled across West Asia.

Giant Projects Attract Capital in Saudi Arabia
Investment licenses are increasing steadily in Saudi Arabia, highlighting the Kingdom’s attractiveness as a destination that offers investors qualitative opportunities in a wide range of sectors. Saudi Arabia issued more than 1,600 foreign investment licenses in the first quarter of 2023, an average of 25 licenses per day. A recent report issued by Invest in Saudi Arabia, one of the initiatives of Vision 2030, showed that more than 1,600 foreign investment licenses were issued in the first quarter of this year, compared to 1,300 licenses in the last quarter of 2022, marking an increase of 2.3 percent.

Saudi Arabia confiscates over 150,000 Captagon pills hidden in cars
Saudi Arabia’s Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has confiscated 151,139 Captagon pills found hidden in cars that arrived in the Kingdom through the Hadithah Port, near the border with Jordan. Authorities had found 43,000 pills in a vehicle, 45,349 pills hidden inside the air compressor tank of another car, and 62,790 pills in the radiator of a third vehicle, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Sunday.

Saudi leads MENA in capital deployment
Saudi Arabia led the Middle East and North Africa region in terms of capital deployment with $446 million, securing 42% of all regional startup investments in the first half of the year, according to a Magnitt report. However, the kingdom saw a 27% decrease in deployed capital amid the global economic slump.
