Saudi Arabia’s annual rate of inflation last month eased to 2.3 percent, down from 2.7 percent in June, according to official data. According to GASTAT, which produces and publishes the official data, housing, food and transport were among the drivers of a rise in consumer prices in July from a year earlier.

Despite a 27% yearly drop in capital deployed compared to H1 2022, Saudi Arabia still aggregated $446M in H1 2023. This amassed a share of 44% of the total funding reported in 2022, the best-performing year for the Kingdom yet. Iraq discovers captagon production factory near Saudi Arabia
Iraq said Sunday it has found a site in a province bordering Saudi Arabia where captagon is produced, a rare discovery in a country that has become a transit route for the illicit drug. “Today, and maybe for the first time, a laboratory where captagon is produced was found,” interior ministry spokesman General Saad Maan said in a video posted online.

Saudi officials thwart attempt to smuggle over 170,000 Captagon pills in Jeddah
Saudi authorities on Friday thwarted an attempt to smuggle 178,274 captagon pills into the Kingdom, the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported. Greece migrant tragedy: coastguard rope capsized boat, survivor accounts say
Survivors of a boat disaster that likely killed hundreds of migrants near Greece have given accounts of traffickers in North Africa cramming them into a clapped-out fishing trawler. They recounted hellish conditions above and below deck, with no food or water. Some also said the tragic end, when it came, was precipitated by the actions of the Greek coastguard.
