Mark’s expedition will begin next month, on November 15th, the very day that Philby began his journey 105 years ago. Accompanying him on this trip is Philby’s Saudi granddaughter Reem, photographer Ana-Maria Pavalache and Alan Morrissey, who is handling all logistics for the team. As on Mark’s previous trips, time will be set aside for scientific research. Specific projects include studying bats inhabiting abandoned mud buildings, collecting data on neolithic flint tools, locating meteoric craters and a project related to how people respond to isolation.

Bahrain set for elections amid calls for boycott, participation
Bahrain is set to hold parliamentary elections next month amid parallel calls for a boycott and participation in the political process. The Nov. 12 vote is also approaching as thousands of Bahrainis remain excluded from political life under the country’s "Political Isolation Law.” This is while many names have been removed from electoral lists under the amendment to Law No. (57) of 2014, which specifies requirements that need to be met for political inclusion. These conditions include “previous participation in the electoral process” and not being “deprived or exempt from exercising rights" by the authorities.

Earthquake strikes Saudi Arabia’s Tabuk
An earthquake measuring 3.38 on the Richter scale struck Saudi Arabia’s Tabuk region on Sunday evening, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
