Road to the G20: G20 Leader’s Summit Publication Released Ahead of Virtual 2020 Summit

Organizers of the G20 in Riyadh released the summit’s Annual Publication ahead of the G20 leadership summit, beginning tomorrow and taking place virtually due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Saudi Arabia as host has prioritized empowering people, safeguarding the planet and shaping new frontiers as themes for this year’s event, the first G20 to be chaired by a nation in the Middle East. The latest summit briefing book, G20 Saudi Arabia: The Riyadh Summit, features high-profile voices on the world’s most pressing challenges.

The G20 summit takes place under a unique environment this year as the global pandemic continues to rage across the world and threaten economic growth. Saudi Arabia’s foreign minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan praised Saudi Arabia’s efforts to host the G20 Summit under such extraordinary circumstances and touted the group’s ability to continue to work together to address these significant challenges. The Kingdom, under its chairmanship of the G20, faced these challenges with determination and competence, the minister said, adding that the pandemic had hindered many activities in various fields, according to report in Arab News.

The pandemic is “a key talking point in this year’s edition of the summit briefing book, G20 Saudi Arabia: The Riyadh Summit, which features prominent voices from government, the business world and civil society,” a press release for the briefing book notes.
