Saudi Arabia Selected as Club World Cup 2023 Hosts after Al Hilal Reached 2022 Final

Saudi Arabia has been selected to host the 2023 Club World Cup in December, FIFA announced on Tuesday in an unanimous vote.

The tournament will take place from December 12-22, 2023 in the Kingdom.

The event includes the six continental champions plus the host’s national champions. This year, Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal made it to the final of the tournament, but lost in a high-scoring match against Real Madrid.

The country has previously hosted sporting events including this year’s Spanish Super Cup, 2022’s world title fight between Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua and the Riyadh Grand Prix.

Saudi Arabia is also set to host the 2029 winter games in NEOM and is bidding for the World Cup in 2030.
