Saudi Arabia’s Latest Record: The World’s Tallest Flagpole

Move over, Tajikistan: Saudi Arabia now has the world’s tallest flagpole.

In Jeddah this week, Makkah Governor Prince Mishaal bin Majed presided over the unfurling of Saudi Arabia’s national flag on the world’s tallest flagpole – a new Guinness World Record for the Kingdom.

Soaring over nearby high rises, the flagpole can be seen for miles and is situated in the middle of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Square, a national landmark that witnessed a celebration of the Kingdom’s 84th national day this week.

At 561 feet tall, it now moves the 525 ft Dushanbe Flagpole at the Palace of Nations in Dushanbe, Tajikistan to second place.
