Saudi Arabia’s Population Grows 9.3% in 2021, Officially Reaching 34 million

Saudi Arabia’s population reached 34 million people in 2021, according to a recent report by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health and published in the Saudi Gazette, at an annual growth rate of 9.3%.

Saudi Arabia’s population has grown 16.8% during the past ten years in which data are available and published by the Ministry (2012-2021).

The Kingdom’s population likely now stands at more that 36 million, according to worldometers.com, which estimates the current population of Saudi Arabia is 36,044,394 as of Tuesday, October 11, 2022. The figure is a projection based on an elaboration of the latest United Nations data.

Worldometers.com estimates the median age in Saudi Arabia is 31.8 years as of October 11th, 2022. The Ministry’s official data said that nearly one quarter of all Saudis are younger than 15 years old.

A growing population that is younger is a main driver of the Kingdom’s need to continue apace with economic and social reforms.
